Objective To explore the relationship between homocysteine (Hcy) concentrations and vascular mild cognitive impairment (MVCI). Methods Plasma homoeysteine (Hcy) concentrations was measured in 46 patients with VMCI and in 38 controls with normal cognition. Results Hcy concentrations in patients with MVCI (23.41±1.491μmol/L)was significantly higher than that in controls (17.01±2.48μmol/L) (t=14.61, P〈0. 01). Conclusions Hyperhomocysteine may play a role in the pathophysiology of MVCI by accelerating arteriolosclerosis and neurons toxicity.
