Claude Roy is a well-known contemporary french poet, novelist and critic. He has made great achievements in poetry. His literary career is accompanied by the dialogue with Chinese culture. He contacts China by way of reading, travelling and establishing friendship with Chinese artists. He writes some works elaborating China and Chinese culture, revealing his enthusiasm for China. In addition, Claude Roy applies his poetic theory into rewriting Chinese ancient poems. Chinese culture becomes an important part in his works. Claude Roy attests the union and fusion of Chinese and western culture by his experience and his literary creation.
