摘要
双边网络外部性包括需求边的网络外部性和供给边的网络外部性,本文集中研究供给方的网络外部性,考虑了多个软件公司的投资策略来内生决定质量升级,在产品市场进行竞争.研究发现:当网络效应很强时,相同平台和互补品企业不仅仅增加他们竞争的努力程度,提高他们的质量水平,也能增加他们的市场份额,平台占优导致标准化的结果;当平台间质量差距很大时,竞争效应很强,持续低的创新将导致出现多样化的结果.
Two-side networks consist of the externalities of demand - side and supplying - side, the paper considers several different firm' s investment strategies in quantity upgrades, which compete in the product market, we find the network effects are stronger the platform and its software firms are increasing their efforts not only in competition but also in quality upgrades and strengthen the platform' s position in the market, thereby increasing the market value of platform firms. The standardization is a result in the Platform firms only if it is better than the other competing platforms, when the quality differences is larger and the competitive effects are stronger, lower rates on innovation will lead to varieties results.
