Deng Yanda and the Whampoa Military Academy

作为国民党左派的领袖人物,邓演达在黄埔军校建立之初,和孙中山、廖仲恺等人一起积极参与黄埔军校的创建工作,在黄埔军校担任教练部副主任及教育长期间,他高度重视学员的军事训练及思想教育,坚持孙中山以主义建军的宗旨,并积极支持共产党的工作,坚持和国民党右派作斗争,有力地维护了军校内的革命统一战线。由于其不可避免的阶级局限性,无法认清楚蒋介石的本质,导致他在中山舰事件的问题上不够成熟。

As a leader of the KMT leftist, Deng Yanda took an active part in the creation of the Whampoa Military Academy with Sun Yat-sen and Liao Zhongkai. When he was deputy director of the Department of Education and the coach of the Whampoa Military Academy, he adhered to the three principles of the people put forward by Dr. Sun Yat-sen and attached importance to the military training and ideological education, supported actively the work of the CPC and struggled with the KMT rightist, which effectively safeguarded the revolutionary united front in the Whampoa military academy. Because of his inevitable limitations of the class, Deng Yanda didn＇t handle with the Event of Warship ZhongShan successfully and was unable to identify the nature of Chiang Kai-shek clearly.
