On the Cultural Background and English-reading

语言反映文化,词汇是语言的载体,英语阅读本身即在了解英语国家的文化。本文对语言与文化的关系,词汇含有的文化因素,以及如何通过英语阅读教学拓宽学生文化背景知识进行了探讨。

Language reflects culture. Vocabulary is the carrier of language. English reading is actually the process of absorbing the culture of the English-speaking countries. This paper discusses the relationship between language and culture, the cultural elements contained by vocabulary, and how to expand the students＇ cultural background knowledge through reading.
