Metaphor is not only a kind of rhetoric method, but also a reflection of our way of thinking and a tool by which we express our views about the world. Cognitive linguistics sees metaphor from a new and higher perspective, thus providing satisfactory explanations for many language phenomena. This article explores some of the studies in the cognitive field, that is, the nature, types of metaphor and some factors concerning the interpretation of it.
