On The Age of Hero——One of the Discussions about "Mao Dun Literature Award"

《英雄时代》是柳建伟的系列长篇小说《时代三部曲》中的第三部,获第六届"茅盾文学奖"。从表面上来看,它是一部歌颂时代英雄、弘扬时代主旋律的小说,但实为一部"盛世危言";小说不仅全方位、深层次地描写了"盛世"时代所隐伏着的危机,而且还揭示了危机产生的深层根源、对所描写的社会丑恶现象则予以了谴责、写出社会转型在人性层面造成的震撼,同时,艺术形式大气而又典雅,堪称一部"大作"。

The Age of Hero is the third part of “trilogy of times” which was given “The 6th Mao Dun Literature Award” . Apparently, it is a novel which eulogizes heroes and carries forward the theme of the times, but it is factually an “alarm in flourishing age” . The novel not only describes from all directions and in depth the crises hidden in the “flourishing age” , but also discloses the causes in depth. In the novel, the writer shows his reprimand of the stigmatic society, and displays the impact of transformational society on human nature. With its grand and elegant artistic form, the novel can be regarded as a “great work” .
