Experiments, as one important sector in teaching procedure, should be beneficial to students reviewing what have learned in classroom, strengthen the ability to solve practical problems by the application of their knowledge. Transform coding, one of the essential theory included in the course of Data Compression, has a variety of application in speech and image compression and its principles are so abstruse that appreciate experiments are needed to reinforce teaching effects. Hence, Matlab should be used in the design of such projects because of the characteristics of having the easiness to understand and profound source of functions on information processing, in order that analysis should be made on the compression schemes.
