Objective To analyze the cross-reaction rate between Paragonimiasis and Schistosomiasis in the three Gorges Reservoir areas. Method Diagnosis by ELISA method was carried out strictly according to quality control measures. Use the soluble egg antigen (SEA) of Schistosomajaponicum to detect the positive serum of Paragonimiasis patiens, also using the adult antigen of Pagumogonimus skrjabini to detect the positive serum of Schistosomiasis patiens analyze the information of the cross-reaction. Result Under the quality control measures, there are 19 positive. Results in the 80 Paragonimiasis patients' serum detecting the soluble egg antigen of Schistosomiasis. The cross-reaction rate is 23.75%. And there are 11 positive Results in the 30 Schistosomiasis patiens' serum detecting the adult atigen of Paragonimiasis. The cross-reaction rate is 36.67%. No specific difference between the two (χ^2=1.835,P〉0.05). Conclusion A higher cross-reaction rate exists in Paragonimiasis of the three Gorges Reservoir areas and Schistosomiasis. It is in need of constructing a specific immunologic diagnosis method of both Paragonimiasis and Schistosomiasis in order to diminish the cross-reaction rate. So that it can make a specific diagnosis and promptly treatment of the Schistosomiasis transmitted from up and downstream of the three Gorges Reservoir areas. Also it can make an earlier prevention to control the Schistosomiasis extending in the three Gorges Reservoir areas.
