翻译不仅是两种语言的转换，也是两种文化的交流与传递。习语是语言中的精华，具有丰富的文化内涵。比较分析英汉习语的文化内涵，有助于解决在英汉习语互译这一特殊的交际过程中文化信息如何传递的问题。

Translation is both an exchange of the two languages and a communication and transmission of the two cultures. Idioms, the essense of a language, possess rich cultural meanings. The present paper analyses cultural meanings of English and Chinese idioms and goes further to study the transmission of the cultural information between the two languages in actual translation.
