摘要
在语义学领域里对语言理据的研究已经有很长的历史了。通过对语言理据的探讨来解释"Watergate"类比构词形成的一系列词汇的语义理据,揭示转喻在这一现象产生中起到的重要作用,指出正确运用语义理据,构建学生心理词汇中的语义网络,能够促进词汇教学。
The proliferation of "gates" in China ensues from the Watergate scandal of the United States in the 1970s. This paper intends to interpret the semantic motivation of this phenomenon, and meanwhile, investigate the important roles played by metonymy on vocabulary learning so as to provide some hints for students' semantic networks building processes and enhance vocabulary teaching.
