Chen Jiongming and Modern Feminist Movement of Guangdong

近代以来,中国女权运动偕民权运动而勃兴,广东因其特殊的地理位置,女权运动一直处于全国领先地位。陈炯明从进入晚清广东咨议局开始,至民国时期两次主持粤政期间,均对女权运动大力倡导并给予支持。在女权运动展开上,陈炯明持现实主义的渐进模式,即经教育权利、人身权利和政治权利的顺序渐次达到。在每种权利的获得上,也应该遵循由易至难的渐次顺序。

Since the modem times, the feminist movement of China had emerged with the movement of civil rights movement. Because Guangdong had the special geographical position, the feminist movement had been always in a leading position in the country. Chen Jiongming entered the law and pohtics school in his young days, where he received the systematic education of the western law and politics thought. Therefore, he always advocated and supported the feminist movement. In the course of promoting the feminist movement, Chen Jiongming held a progressive mode of realism, that is, gradually from the educational rights to the personal rights and political rights. This is true in the acquisition of other rights.
