转喻与隐喻的连续体现象与多义词的认知

Continuum of Metonymy and Metaphor and Cognitive Study of Polysemy

认知语言学认为,词义延伸有两种主要机制:一是以邻近性关系为基础的以部分代整体的转喻方式;另一个是以事物相似性为基础的隐喻方式。认为两种机制在多义词认知过程中并不是独立的,而是相互交叉,出现连续体的现象。通过以head和hand两个人体部位词为语料,从转喻和隐喻的连续体现象的角度补充分析了一词多义现象。

According to cognitive linguistics, there are two major mechanisms of word meaning extension ： metonymical thinking based on contiguity and metaphorical thinking based on similarity. Our research finds that the two ways of thinking are like points on a continuum, and gives a further analysis of polysemy by analysis of ＂head＂ and ＂hand ＂
