This article reveals the complexity of a president＇s identities he performsin public discourses with the example of a case study on the speech ＂I Have Sinned＂by Bill Clinton concerning the sexual affair with Monica Lewinsky. Clinton distinguishes himself from one identity to another in correspondence with the diversity of the audience using religious genre along with the genre of public speech to serve the purpose of preserving the identity as a president.
