The advantages and disadvantages of traditional PI control are analyzed firstly. Then this paper mainly summarizes the recent research developments of high voltage direct current damping control using fuzzy logic and neural network control. The design and implementation of these control strategies are emphasized and the problems lying ahead are pointed out.
