在中古汉语里,当"相当"被用于描述物体在空间上的分布关系时,有"整齐"之义,而非"相对"。
In the Middle Ancient Times of Chinese Language, the words Xiangdang(相当) had the meaning of "in good order", when it was used to describe the spatial relationship between objects. In such contexts, Xiangdang(相当) did not mean "opposite to each other".
