Retrospection over Cultivation of Patriotism since Implementation of the Reform and Opening-up Policies

爱国主义对于一个国家、一个民族所产生的伟大凝聚力和生命力是任何其他力量所不能替代的。改革开放的新时代呼唤爱国主义教育，同时新情况新变化也向爱国主义教育提出了严峻挑战。党和国家高度重视爱国主义教育，在应对种种挑战中取得了可喜的成就，积累了弥足珍贵的经验。总结经验的目的在于坚持经验，使新时期的爱国主义教育更加体现时代性、把握规律性、富有创新性。

Patriotism means unity and passion which is irreplaceable for a country or a nation. The new era of reform and opening-up calls for cultivation of patriotism, which is challenged by the changing situations. The Party and the government place great emphasis on cultivation of patriotism. So far, much progress has been made and rich experience has been accumulated in meeting these challenges. It is important to summarize our experience with the intention that cultivation of patriotism in the new era will be in line with the principlas of ideological education and be carried out in more creative ways.
