Artistic Conception in the Design of Temple Garden——Shaolin Temple in Henan Province as an Example

寺庙园林是我国园林的重要组成部分,这种寺庙园林与自然环境浑然天成,河南省少林寺即为典型的范例,该文以文献考证和实地调查的研究方法,以少林寺寺庙园林为例,从选址、建筑、植物、理水4个方面揭示了寺庙园林的意境,对于在当今土地资源有限的情况下如何最大限度的利用现有园林绿地,体现现代园林风貌,将会大有裨益。

Temple garden is an important component of gardening in China. The unique feature of perfect integration of temple garden with the natural environment is expressed by artistic conception. Shaolin Temple in Henan Province provides an excellent example. This study was based on literature review and onsite investigations. The study was focused on the temple gardens of Shaolin Temple, and tries to reveal the reflection of artistic conception in 4 aspects of locality, architecture, plants and water in the design of the temple garden. The study is intended to provide helps in how to maximize the uses of existing garden areas with limited land resources to display modem style of gardens, and to upgrade the design of modem gardens to a higher level.
