玛格丽特·德拉布尔的小说《磨盘》的女主人公罗萨蒙德是在西蒙·德·波伏娃的《第二性》影响下成长起来的新一代知识女性的代表。在《磨盘》中,罗萨蒙德在与乔治唯一的一次偶合就怀了孕,犯下了"原罪",而其救赎的方式——将男性边缘化,使其成为女性的"第二性"与"他者",用母爱取代性爱成为生活的主旋律蕴涵了德拉布尔独特的女性主义思想,既不同于传统女性又有别于激进女性主义者,既倡导女性独立,又强调做母亲的责任。

Margaret Drabble＇ s novel The Millstone＇ s heroine Rosamund is one of the representatives of the new female intellectuals under the influence of Simone de Beauvoir. This thesis points out that in The Millstone Rosamond is pregnant because of the only sexual experience with George, thus commits the original sin. And she chooses to marginalize males, making them be the second sex and ＂the other＂ of the female and use maternity to replace sexual life to be the main theme of her life. All those convince us that Margaret Drabble is a feminist different from the traditional females and at the same time differs herself from the radical feminist. She emphasizes the independence of the female as well as the responsibility of mothers.
