A New Method of the Quantitative Evaluation of Journal Value——Journal Usage Factor

摘要阐述期刊使用因子的提出背景、概念及内涵,指出它与影响因子在计算范围、研究对象和计算方式方面存在不同,可以作为影响因子评价的有力补充,为研究资助机构提供资助依据;介绍英国期刊工作组和美国MESUR项目等关于使用因子的研究情况;探索使用因子在图书馆的需求调查、资源评价、新资源订购和用户行为模式研究中的应用前景;最后指出期刊使用因子存在的问题。 Journal usage factor is a frequency-based evaluation method. It differentiates from journal impact factor in the following facets such as computation scope, research object and calculation method. The paper probes the current development of the usage factor and the issues needed to be solved through the research of the project of the United Kingdom Serials Group and the MESUR project,and explores the outlook of the application of usage factor in the library environment, such as demand inquisition, evaluation of the resources, resources collection and the behavior pattern of the individual users.
