The damage from the water in mine affects the exploitation of coal mine and the safety. The key way to reduce the damage from the water and put an end to the damage is to find the source of the water. Transient electromagnetic method is currently one of the best means to find the water. The general development, the principle, the characteristics and the application scopes of transient electromagnetic method are introduced. Through the practice example the application effect of transient electromagnetic method in hydrogeological exploitation is introduced.
