Non-standard Characters Used in Fuzhou Dialect in the 19^(th) Century

本文从19世纪的福州方言文献中收集了180个常用的方言杂字,联系这些字所记载的方言词语的音和义,讨论方言造字和用字的规律。

Collected in this article are 180 non-standard characters in common use from the works on Fuzhou dialect by western missionaries in the 19 th Century. By referring to the pronunciation and meaning of the colloquial words for which these characters were written, the writer discusses the principles underlying their devisal and usage.
