摘要
在《奇异的插曲》与《悲悼》中,尤金.奥尼尔通过一系列女性形象表达了对充满母性情怀和奉献精神的女性的赞赏,同时就两性关系表达了自己的看法。他不满父权社会男性对女性的控制和压迫,但并不主张女性为反抗压迫而凌驾于男性之上,他所期望和欣赏的是和谐的两性关系。奥尼尔虽受父权社会集体无意识的影响,以传统的妇女观来评价女性,但他关注女性的内心世界,揭示了女性的生存现状,对女性的不幸境遇充满同情和理解,因此仍属难能可贵。
In Strange Interlude & Mourning Becomes Electra, by the creation of a series of women figures, Eugene O'Neill shows much appreciation of characters with maternity and spirit of dedication. Meanwhile, he expresses his idea on the relationship between sexes. While he is not satisfied with women's situation of being controlled and oppressed by men, he does not hold that women should rise above men in order to fight against the oppression. What he expects and appreciates is a harmonious relationship. Influenced by the collective unconscious popular in patri- archal society, he still evaluates women from a traditional point of view. But he cares much about women's inner world, exposes their real living conditions, and shows his sympathy to them, which is still very commendable.
