从语用学的角度对委婉语的产生、使用、理解及其语用特征进行分析,最后指出:委婉语是为了给自己和对方留足面子,在不违背合作原则和遵循礼貌原则的基础上而产生的常规语言的一种变异,其使用依赖语境。

The essay analyses the emergence, use and features of the euphemism from a pragmatic point of view, and points out that it is a use of language which keeps to the manners principle as opposed to the cooperation principle. Its use depends on the context.
