图文传与传记文学的普及大众化趋向——从《胡适传》第四版所想到的

The Popularization and Tendency of illustrated Biographies and Biographical Literature

图文作传,是历史人物长篇传记写作走向大众化的一种新路径。它从绣像小说、近代电影、近年"讲经""读史"潮流中获得启发,却又与它们迥然有别。传以文字为主,辅以图片,似与"绣像小说"同,其根本区别在于真实与虚构。与近代电影也只图像近似,而不可能有音乐语言等听觉因素。与"讲经""读史"之类的区别最明显,或主说理,或主叙事;图片资料或有或无,或多或少。在传记中选用图片资料,须有严格的要求和应起的作用。首先,能真实地表现传主的生平行状和思想发展;其次,能表现传主思想生活的时代和社会背景。

Writing biographies with illustrations is a new way of popularizing long biographies of historical figures. Such a biography is very restrict in the choice of pictures, and they must play a certain role. First, they should reflect truly the life events and ideological development of the person in the biography. Second, they should be able to embody the times and social background of the person in the biography.
