The process and features of start-up through intermediate pressure （ IP ） cylinder of two 600 MW units in some power plant project phase I were presented. The faults occurred in the process of start-up through IP cylinder were analyzed in detail, and the relevant treatment measures were proposed. At last, it was pointed out that the tart-up through IP cylinder is a safer and more economic way for unit start-up.
