Multilateral Interaction and the Nian Army's Siege Campaign on Yingzhou——A View That the Real Director of the Yingzhou War Is Miao Peilin Instead of Zhang Lexing

颍州围城战役是捻军史上的重大战事。各派政治力量的消长对颍州之战进程有着重大的影响,颍州之战的实际导演者为苗沛霖而非传统观点所说张乐行捻军或太平军;捻军以及太平军进攻颍州的决策,受着苗沛霖战略主导意识的影响;苗沛霖的向背是颍州围城战役成败的关键。

The siege campaign on Yingzhou was a major warfare in the Nian Army＇ s history. The rise and fall of various political forces all exerted their respective influences on the campaign. The present paper points out that the chief force of the campaign was Miao Peilin＇ s army rather than Zhang Lexing＇ s Nian Army or the Taiping Army from the traditional point of view. The strategic decision of the Nian Army and the Taiping Army as to whether and how to initiate the attack was to a great degree up to Miao Peilin. As a result, Miao Peilin＇ s support or surrender was the key as to whether they could win the Yingzhou war.
