摘要
随着"国学热"的兴起和通俗文学研究的进展,中国现代文学的学科架构面临着调整的问题。调整的一个重要方面,就是它的起点。这次就起点问题的对话表达了三种意见:一是认为现代文学史的起点应越过"五四"向前追溯到晚清,至少中国现代通俗文学的起点在晚清;二是认为现代文学史的起点应从现代文学与古代文学的区分上来考虑,还应坚持"五四"的分界线;三是认为中国现代文学应是现代中国文学,即是一种断代意义上的民国文学。这些观点各有自己的理据,参与者由此又将讨论扩展到中国现代文学的学科独立性、中国现代文学史的断代标准、中国现代文学与民族传统文学及西方文学的关系等问题。
With the rush of "Sinology" and the development of pop literature studies, the disciplinary framework of Chinese modern literature history is confronted with the necessity of adjustment. A important perspective of this adjustment is to make clear the beginning of Chinese modern literature history. In this controversy there are mainly three different opinions about it. Some scholars argue that the beginning of Chinese modern literature history, at least the beginning of Chinese modern pop literature, should be dated back to late Qing Dynasty. Some others believe the beginning needs to separate modern literature from ancient literature. Therefore, it should still be the May 4th Movement as before. And some declare that Chinese modern literature is equal to modern Chinese literature, in other words, Chinese literature in republic period in an independent sense. Moreover, participants go further to cover the following problems: the disciplinary independency of Chinese modern literature, the dividing standards within its own system, the relationship between Chinese modern literature and traditional national literature, and that between Chinese modern literature and Western literature, etc.
