Based on the afforestation status and the future demand for harnessing mountainous areas in Weichang County, the paper argued the necessity of introduction and development of seabuckthorn, discussed the feasibility of growing the Russian variety Grand Fruit seabuckthorn, described a number of Russian varieties such as thornless or lessthorn Grand Fruit seabuckthorns, and analyzed the potential and conditions for growing them in Weichang county.
