受厄尔尼诺现象影响，1997年山西特早熟棉区气候异常，持续高温干旱，光照不足，造成棉花生育期缩短，上部结铃减少，但霜前花率提高。只要采取积极措施。

Affected by Earnino phenomenon, the climate was quite unusual in 1997 on exceptional early mature cotton region of Shanxi. Sustainable high temperature, drought and unsufficient light resulted in shortening the time of growth and reproduction of cotton, decreasing the number of bolls bearing on the upper part, but increasing rate of bolls opening before frost. Higher yield could be obtained if some measures were adopted.
