对于"天主"的信仰和崇拜可以说是天主教信仰的基石和核心。晚清乡土教民在按照天主教教义的要求有意识地去吸纳"天主"信仰的过程中,常常不自觉地以他们固有的认知结构、生活经验以及信仰习俗,对其进行"无声的改造",将中国式的宗教意识、思维逻辑和信仰模式植入天主信仰之中,使天主教义中原本清晰单纯的"天主"观念呈现为一副斑驳陆离的文化景观。

The belief in God is the core and foundation of the whole system of beliefs of catholicism.Chinese rural romanists in late Qing dynasty absorbed the religious doctrine of 'God' consciously,while reforming it unconsciously according to their inherent cognitive structure,life experience and faith practices.They implanted chinese native religious awareness,thinking and beliefs in God faith of the catholic church and made their God faith complicated and distinctive.
