The concept of Eco-towns has aroused great interest but has also generated considerable scepticism and opposition. However, what is indisputable is that the physica context of successful eco-towns - how these are designed, the landscape features and the impressions the scheme makes in terms of ＇look and feel＇ - is critical to building a scheme＇ s character, contributing to its success as a sustainable, attractive and enjoyable place to live. This article will identify best practice in landscape design and architecture from PRP＇s recent European research project and include 1-2 of PRP＇s current landscape projects, using these to ustrate how best practice is being applied successfully today
