Various social movements arose and developed in 1960s. News media also played their active part in these movements at this period of time. They not only witnessed and recorded these social movements but also took part in their construction and deconstruction in an implied and active way. The essay begins with the analysis of the reports about the "Students for a Democratic Soci- ety" (SDS) in New York Times and tries to explore the role the news reports played in the process of the radicalization and decline of SDS.
