互文性理论的优点在于可以将两个或多个有联系的文本并列起来作比较而不用顾及它们的先后顺序和历史关联。运用互文性相关理论解读易卜生的《小艾友夫》和凯特.肖班的《觉醒》可以发现:这两个文本在对各自女主人公即吕达与埃德娜的人物塑造方面具有互文性的关系,两者在婚姻生活中的两性地位、女性意识的觉醒以及选择抗争的方式等许多层面上具有互文性,后者形象是对前者形象的颠覆。

The theories of intertexuality can help compare two or more texts without considering their subsequent occurrences and historical correlations. This article attempts to make a study of Ibsen＇ s play Little Eyolf and Kate Chopin＇ s novella The Awakening by means of the theories of intertexuality. The intertexual relations of the characterization of Rita and Edna can be fully displayed in three layers, that is, the intertexuality of the women＇ s role in marriage, of the awakening as an independent individual and of the ways of struggling. The latter is the subversion of the former.
