Beijing is a highly urbanized area that is dependent on a complex water supply system. Groundwater is the largest part water supply with 67%. For the water crisis in recent years, many groundwater emergency well fields have been established. With water supply of the emergency well field, urban water managers will be challenged to conserve more and make the most of water falls directly on this area. To improve water supply safeguard, the Emergency Groundwater Management Information System (EGWMIS) has been developed, which provides for enhancing water management. A structured system design ensures the placing of data within a dynamic context of data deal with, groundwater dynamic analysis, model prediction, water quality assessment and early warning, and its application illustrate EGWGIS how to implement as a core component of a more comprehensive water supply project to provide information to the decision-maker. The EGWGIS is designed around a client- server architecture that emphasizes the seamless integration, sharing and reuse of data to support modeling activities. The GIS spatial data, real-time monitoring groundwater data, water quality sampling information, and MapObjects applications that support and enhance an integrated water field management are discussed. With quick and easy access to discrete information, numeric simulation and assessment models, and GIS, these systems constitute a valuable water resource management tool for water supply decision making.
