摘要
中华龙与西方文化中的龙"dragon"完全不同,应将龙英译为Loong以示区别。其理由有四个方面:(1)"Loong"的音形义贴合实际。(2)中"龙"与西"dragon"文化内涵有别。(3)异化(foreignization)("龙"translated as"Loong")翻译策略有利于保护中华民族文化。(4)英语中的汉语借用词为"Loong"的传播提供途径。
Chinese ＂龙＂ is different from Western dragon and should be translated as ＂Loong＂. There are four reasons for this ： 1. The pronunciation, morphology and meaning of the word ＂ Loong＂ are suitable in practical usage. 2. Chinese ＂龙＂ is different from Western dragon in their cultural connotation. 3. The translation strategy of foreignization （ ＂龙＂ translated as ＂Loong＂ ） is useful for protecting Chinese culture. 4. The Chinese loan words in English provide a way for the spread of ＂Loong＂.
