区域经济协调发展是区域之间相互开放、经济交往日益密切、区域分工趋于合理,既保持区域经济整体高效增长,又把区域之间的经济发展差距控制在合理、适度的范围内并逐渐收敛,达到区域之间经济发展的正向促进、良性互动的状态和过程。区域经济协调发展具有4个"标志",即区域之间经济联系日益密切、区域分工趋向合理、区域经济整体高效增长、区域间经济发展差距在一定的"度"内,且逐步缩小。区域经济协调发展有程度之分,即区域经济联系越密切、区域分工越合理、区域经济发展差距的程度越小以及区域经济整体发展速度越高,区域经济发展的协调程度也就越高。区域经济协调发展具有综合性、互制性、动态性、层次性与量化区间性等特征。

Coordinated development of regional economy means mutual development and ever - increasing close communication of trade among areas, forming a reasonable tendency of regional division, keeping a high - rate increase of overall regional economy as well as controlling development differences of areas under an acceptable and moderate scope, finally to realize positively -promoting and soundly interactive state or process between areas. It is marked by 4 ＂ standards＂, close connection of economy, rational division, efficient growth, and gap ＂narrowing development difference. However, the coordinated development of regional economy has different degrees, that is, closer connection, more rational division, narrower difference and higher growth represent more coordinated development degree of regional economy. The development, additionally, features its integration, mutual restriction, dynamic character, variation and quanfized interval.
