A Study on Engagement Resources in Chinese EFL College Learners’ English Argumentative Writing

摘要 本文在评价系统的理论框架内,通过对比揭示中国大学生英语议论文中介入资源的使用特征。研究发现:1)中国学生文本中介入资源呈现不同的运用频率,其中扩展介入出现的频率明显高于紧缩资源;2)紧缩资源中中国学生更倾向于利用否定资源。研究结果对英语写作教学具有一定的参考价值。 Within the theoretical framework of APPRAISAL system,the present paper attempts to explore the characteristics of engagement recourses in Chinese EFL learners' argumentative writing through contrastive analysis. Findings of the study include: 1 ) these resources have different occurrence frequencies with expansion resources being much more frequently used than contract ones;2) Chinese Learners tend to use more contract resources of deny than counter and endorsement. This study sheds light on the teaching of EFL writing.
