试析王引之《经传释词》中的虚词“爰”

"爰"是比较古的一个虚词,在春秋战国以后的书籍中就很少用到了,因而其意义和用法也很难被人理解。直到清代,王引之才对虚词"爰"的意义和用法有了一定的理解,并撰其义于《经传释词》之中。文章就《经传释词》卷二"爰"的释义进行了分析和阐释,指出了王引之在释虚词方面的三点不足,即义项当分而未分、误把实义当虚义和单字为训易歧义。

＂Yuan＂ ,as an ancient functional word,has been scarcely used after the Spring and Autumn period, so the meaning＇ and usage is difficult to understand. Till Qing dynasty, Wang Yinzhi worked out possible explanations on that, which was described in ＂Word Meaning of Classics＂. The explanation of yuan in the second volume is analyzed in this paper. It is pointed out that there are three inadequate points：some items that are supposed to be classified are not done;some lexical words are wrongly taken as functional word;some single words are wrongly interpreted as ambiguities.
