Objective To analyze the changing trends of micronucleus rate of peripheral blood lymphocytes among medical staffs exposed to radiation and investigate the reason of this change. Methods Medical staffs exposed to radiation in a hospital in Guangdong Provinee were studied for 4 years. Micronucleus of peripheral blood lymphocytes were detected each year, using the conventional culture method. The relationship between mieronucleus rate and the exposure time and job title were analyzed. Results The rates of micronucleus were obviously related to the exposure time. Conclusion The micronucleus rate of medical staff exposed to radiation increased and had a positive relation with the service time. More protective measures against radiation should be taken to protect these medical staffs.
