The Ghost Road, describing a group of shell-shocked soldiers’ healing process in a military hospital during WWI, is the last volume of Regeneration Trilogy written by Pat Barker, a famous female contemporary British novelist. This thesis illustrates the protagonist Prior’s existent straits after trauma to interpret the reason of his rest 'ghost' life with self-confrontation, ambivalence and perplexities from the perspective of Sartre’s existentialist theory of in-itself and for-itself, then launches a thorough thinking about the prospect of existence after war and slaughter from the view of Existentialism.
