普通高校大学英语大班授课问题初探——湖北六所普通高校大学英语教学调查报告

A Probe into Problems in Large College English Clas

近年来,由于高校扩招,教师、教室、设备等资源有限,教学班的学生人数也在不断增加,大学英语大班授课成为现实。笔者对湖北六所普通高校的大学英语教学班的学生人数、教学设备、课堂互动情况及学生英语学习的积极性进行了问卷调查。调查数据显示,被调查的高校由于教学班的学生人数众多,教学设备、大学英语课堂互动及学生的英语学习积极性方面都存在亟待解决的问题,其英语教学状况不容乐观。希望教育主管部门、有关学校及其大学英语教师共同努力,改善大学英语教学状况,增加对大学英语教学设备的投入,提高大学英语课堂互动的效果,充分调动学生英语学习的积极性,提高大学英语教学质量,跟上大学英语教学改革的步伐。

Chinese universities and colleges are allowed to enrol more and more new students in recent years,but their teaching sources like teachers,classrooms and teaching equipments are limited.So the number of college students in a teaching class is becoming larger and larger now,so it is in College English teaching class.Questionnaire Survey is made on the number of students in College English teaching classes,teaching equipment,the effects of class interaction and students' initiative in English learning in six local universities and colleges of Hubei Province.Quantitative research shows that there are problems from the four surveyed aspects which should be solved earnestly in these universities and colleges,and that the situations of college English teaching in these universities and colleges are not as good as expected.We hope that government administrative offices of education,universities or colleges and teachers could make great effort together to improve the situation of College English teaching and the effects of class interaction,to invest more into teaching equipment and to mobilize students' initiative in English learning.And then,college English teaching quality in these universities and colleges will be improved and the pace of College English teaching reform will keep up with these universities and colleges in Hubei province.
