There is a system of local techniques contained in the traditional buildings in Panxi region and the northwest of Dian region which fit to dry climate of high altitudes and strongly sun scorched, such as thick walls and small windows、watery and planted yards、compound space、air space to keep or insulate heat、sunshade design、grey space and concertated space etc.Charles Correa's works and Ken Yeang's works are the representatives of the recent practices in southeast Asia and west of Asia. They combine with the local climates and local techniques to form the construction thinking taken construction designology as the core,to solve the problems of genergy saving and creating micro climate.Combining with geographical and climatic features, the urban design of Panzhihua city has much behaviour in the followed fields temperature difference between day and night can be made use to regulate the urban heat-island;under dry hot climate, relatively assembled building groups together with relevant shade space should be created to increase the attraction of outdoor activities;the valley wind should be induced and strengthened so as to regulate the urban micro climate;the shaded slopes and sun shined slopes should be utilized rationally in stongly scorched areas, top and back mountainous afforestation should be well conserved to minimize and prevent disasters.and to optimize the ecological environment;and waterfront areas should be developed under the principle of environmental engineering so as to attribute the regulation of urban temperature and humidity in its micro climate and to build an overall urban natural ventilation system.
