My Humble Thinking on College English Teaching

在本文中,作者针对当前高校英语教学中存在的四个基本问题(即"教给谁",谁来教","教什么"和"怎样教")进行了探讨。作者认为,搞好高校英语教学工作的关键在于抓住"以人为本,以学生为中心"这个纲,坚持与时俱进,坚持创新,不断进行换位思考,就能把各个教学环节的"目"有机地结合起来。另外,笔者还着重探讨了当代大学生和大学英语教师的现状,指出,只有通过创新求变,实现教学过程中的科学性和艺术性的统一,才能真正收据和利用那些有利于英语教学的"石块",激起学生英语学习、进步和成功的"层层涟漪"。

In this article, the author says something about the 4 basic issues that presently exist in university English teaching.(namely: 'Whom to teach?', 'Who to teach?', 'What to teach?' and 'How to teach?'). The author holds that the key point in doing well in university English teaching is to be student-oriented. University English teachers should go ahead side by side with the time and age, always regard themselves as students, and combine organically all aspects (including listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation) in English teaching. Furthermore, The author also give a stressed analysis of the features of university students and teachers thereof, and points out that only by means of innovation, can they collect 'stones' that are helpful to English teaching in order to arouse 'waves' in students in learning English.
