The Weights and Measures and the Conversion Criteria in Songjiang District in the Early 19th Century

在近代以前的世界上,度量衡和折算标准千差万别。不仅在不同地区之间,而且在不同时期之间,度量衡和折算标准都会有程度不等的差异。不弄清这些差别,就难以对许多经济数据进行正确处理。因此弄清度量衡和折算标准的问题,是进行经济史研究的基本工作。本文试图对19世纪初期松江地区的度量衡及折算标准做一综合研究。

Before the modern times,weights and measures as well as the conversion criteria varied largely in the world.Differences,in varying degrees,exsited not only among different regions but also in different peirods of time.Without a clear understanding of all those differences,it would be hard to process the numerous economic statistics properly.Hence it is the rudimentary requirement of studies on economic history to sort out the weights and measures as well as the conversion criteria.This paper thus attempts to make an integrative study of the weights and measures as well as the conversion criteria in Songjiang District in the early 19th century.
