关于培养高职高专学生英语应用能力的思考

On the Development of Students’ English Practical Ability in Higher Vocational Institute

随着中国加入世贸组织和申奥成功,社会急需大量高素质的外语人才。新形势下的高职高专英语教学目标应是培养学生的英语应用能力。要实现这个目标就必须转变观念、改革传统的英语教学模式,精讲多练,加强对学生听、说、读、写、译五项技能的训练。

With China’s entry into the World Trade Organization and successful bid for 2008 Olympic Games, our society urgently needs a great number of English talents. In this new situation, the teaching objective of higher vocational institute is to develop students’ English practical ability. In order to achieve this goal, we have to renew the idea, reform traditional English teaching models, interpret intensively and ensure plenty of practice, and strengthen fi ve skills—listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating.
