Frequency Upconversion in Er^(3+)-Doped Alkali Lanthanum Gallate Glasses

摘要 Frequency upconversion of Er3+ in alkali lanthanum gallate glasses (Na2O-La2O3-Ga2O3 or NLG) was investigated. Visible emissions at 532, 546, and 660 nm corresponding to the 2H11/2→4I15/2, 4S3/2→4I15/2, and 4F9/2→4I15/2 transitions were observed under continuous wave excitation at 980 nm. The quadratic pump power dependence of these emissions indicated a two photon upconversion process. At a pump intensity of 52 W·cm-2 at 980 nm, frequency upconversion efficiencies of 1.1×10-2 and 2.7×10-3 were obtained for green and red emissions, respectively.
