Globalisation, which is considered to be one of the most important characteristics of the approaching century, leads urban development into a new age that is called 'the Globalisation age'. Cities from all over the world will act as new various roles according to their functions in the system of global urban network which is now being set up. The revolution of communicational technology and dropping price of global transportation form the prerequisite to globa1isation of metropolises. Some key contents frame the fundamental conditions of globalisation such as unity of global economy, policies of development from individual nations, and intercourse of social cultures among countries. From the process of urban globalisation, this paper expounds that non-industrialization tendency of metropolises in developed western countries has a close and inevitable relation to industrialization trend of big cities in developing countries.
