On the Reform of China's Planning Education

近年来，国内有一些将规划专业与建筑学专业合并的的议论．基于中国和美国的经验，作者认为：尽管现代城市规划教育早期受建筑学教育的影响颇深，但规划专业与建筑学专业是完全不同的专业，规划专业完全应保持其独立地位．

It recent years, some Chinese planners suggested that planning education should be offered within architecture programs as part of the planning education reform. Based on experience both in China and in the US, the author of the article argues that planning is a different subject from architecture so it should remain independent from architecture program although modern city planning education did receive strong influence from architecture education in the early days.
