和谐社会是指一个和睦、融洽、协调的,在平衡中保持进步,在进步中不断发展的社会;是一个各方面利益关系得以理顺的,将矛盾最小化的社会。政治参与对解决当前社会重要的两大矛盾——党和人民的矛盾,人民之间的矛盾,有着积极的影响,对社会主义和谐社会的构建有着促进作用。社会主义和谐社会的建设和政治参与的发展可以说是包含与被包含,相互渗透,相互促进,相互依赖的关系。一方面,公民的政治参与构建是和谐社会建设的不可获缺的一部分,政治参与促进和谐社会的构建;另一方面,社会主义和谐社会建设又会推进政治参与的发展,为其提供经济、信息、教育、法制等条件。

The harmonious society means a smooth and coordinate society in which the contradiction can be minimized greatly,and the interests of all quarters can be balanced properly.Political participation has the positive influence on solving the two contradictions-contradiction between the Party and the people,internal contradiction among the people.The construction of socialist harmonious society and the development of political participation involve each other,infiltrate each other,promote each other and count on each other.Citizens' participation in political affairs will promote the construction of harmonious society,on the other hand, the construction of the socialist harmonious society can also promote the development of the political participation and provide the economy,information,education and legal conditions to it.
